Theme: To hear for Life, Listen with Care!
On 3rd March 2022, The Telangana Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists Association (TASLPA) in collaboration with Universal Association of Clinical Audiologists (UACA) jointly conducted the World Hearing Day -2022 event at P.V.Gyan Bhoomi Hyderabad. This event was recognized and funded by World Health Organization (WHO). TASLPA is one of the organizations which got selected for WHO grant along with the 51 applications worldwide. A Cyclothon and Walkathon were conducted from P.V.Gyan Bhoomi to Peoples Plaza, Necklace road with 200 Practicing Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists Doctors and Junior Doctors (Students). Hon’ble Musheerabad MLA Shri.Muta Gopal attended as chief guest and flagged off the cyclothon and walkathon. In his speech he advised the public to protect the hearing by avoiding loud noises and excessive use of ear phones and head phones. He also told that not to neglect hearing problems, consult Audiologist Doctors regularly to know about your Hearing level. He assured the TASLPA that he will extend his best possible support to Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists from Government of Telangana. Other Guest TRS Youth leader Shri.Muta Jai Simha advised to public in his speech that parents should always be aware of Hearing problems of their children and consult Audiologist Doctors for regular Hearing Screening, as there will be a delay in speech and language development due to hearing loss. TASLPA & UACA Founder & President Dr.Nagender Kankipati and Hon.General Secretary Dr.Imad Khan Ruman also appealed the public to be aware from Loud Noises which causes Hearing Loss and use Digital Hearing Aids compulsorily when detected with Hearing loss to prevent further damage of hearing and to protect the memory as hearing loss affects the brain functioning. They have also informed the public that TASLPA is conducting free Hearing Testing Camps occasionally to create awareness in common public about the Hearing problems. Another Guest Dr.Tank Bund Shiva also told the gathering that not to humiliate or insult the people who are using hearing aids. Public should encourage the persons who are using Hearing aids to overcome their Hearing problems. The program was also co-sponsored by Ashoka Child Development Centre, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Oticon India and Gaman Multispeciality Hospitals and Foundation.
